The social media inter-university war of words has always had University of Nairobi comrades accused of overstaying in university.
Some comrades and the public hold to this strong mentality that one cannot graduate from the University of Nairobi without having stayed around for more than five years. A four year course in other universities is believed to take up to six years at the University of Nairobi.
In a recent post, after the shut down of institutions due to Corona Virus fears, one comrade shared an image of two Rastafarian men who seemed of age and identified them as aging University of Nairobi 4th years.
The Rastatfarian nation has however come out to defend their own and clear the air about the incident. In a statement, one of them, Ras said that the picture doing rounds is not that of 4th year comrades at the University of Nairobi but rather elders with whom he has interracted at a personal level.
“I know you guys have your own stereotypical believes about the UoN but I would like to clarify that the elders in this photo are not 4th year comrades at the university. Pick your fights carefully.” Ras warned.
University of Nairobi comrades have suffered blows which have kept them in school longer; ranging from students strikes, lecturers’ strikes, corona virus pandemic and prolonged long holidays.
