The country; a ruin| the campus magazine

The country is in ruins

And who is its saviour?

Leaders are now politicians

I see politicians with self interests

In the name of serving the ‘common mwananchi’

I see them on television each day

Coming with either scandals or lies that they want to pass across

We are doomed!

But hell no, the politicians have ill-fated us.

They call us common mwananchi

And consider themselves mighty

They always think they cannot share a table with the commons

They eat from the high tables

Our servants

The people we chose to serve us are now controlling us

A servant has grown horns, watch out they don’t fight you.

Rather than serving us,

They are representing us in international matches

Using our very own hard earned money

Rather than facilitating economic development

They are looting and investing outside our country

Rather than empowering the youth

They are facilitating them with substance abuse and hate

They can’t stand the wrath of a straight thinking populace

They want to lead, they don’t want to serve.
