Kenya Universities Students Organisation (KUSO) has written to the National Assembly to petition a proposed plan to have a police post near or around every tertiary institution in Kenya.

In a statement, the KUSO leadership pointed out a drastic increase in case of comrades abduction, torture and murder.

KUSO also added that, with police posts near all tertiary institutions, they would be hopeful that the rising murder menace would be curbed.

“With the current rise of students abduction, torture and murder, we are hopeful  that this security agencies will help in endeavouring and harnessing learning, providing security, comfort and curb mysterious occurrences that thwarts educational experiences of students.”

This has come as a concern due to an increase in comrades abduction and murder cases.

Diferent cases have been reported including; the brutal killing of Rongo University student ( Sharon Otieno), the shooting of the Meru University’s student Secretary general ( Evans Njoroge, Kidero), the death of a South Eastern Kenya University’s  (SEKU) comrade who went missing for days and his body discovered dumped in a river bearing several injuries and the latest incident in which a Rongo University comrade again went missing for days and his body retrieved from a river.

These incidences have raised a lot of fear among comrades hence there is dire need for the national government to set up security posts for comrades’protection.
