Machakos governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has described the coronavirus pandemic as good for Kenya since no one can now seek medical treatment from abroad.
Speaking at Mavoko Sub-County offices on Tuesday, Dr. Mutua said it’s time for leaders to think about repairing the structures as both the poor and the wealthy have been affected equally. He said that this is a lesson for leaders to fix our countries health system and get treatment from home rather than seeking treatment in developing countries.
“When our leaders fall sick, they go to London, India… where will you go now? You will be treated here. So, we must now take care of our health systems. Nobody will accept you in London now, nobody will accept you in India, India imefungwa.”
The governor said that this is the high time for our leaders to fix the neglected systems we’ve had since independence where the poor have remained poor and the rich have become richer.
