Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has responded to Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s claims of sparing of buildings that are on riparian land.
In a video that went viral on the internet, the Kiambu Governor was yesterday put on record condemning the ongoing demolitions of buildings that are built on the banks of rivers within Nairobi County. In a statement, Governor Waititu said that rather than the county government destroying the structures that cost the owners a fortune, the people associated with those structures should be informed and they find a way of diverting the rivers.
In response to Waititu’s, Governor Sonko through his official twitter page dismissed these claims saying that the Kiambu Governor should concentrate on his county.
“My good friend and colleague should concentrate on his county. He should know we don’t mix friendship with work.”
Sonko either added that even Weston, his Buru Buru Casurina cocobeach plot, Taj mall and many other buildings shall not be spared if found to be on riparian or public land.
